Dear Friends,

Welcome to the new year! I am praying that you and your family are safe, healthy and encouraged as you begin this year.

I want to invite you and each of our members to take a journey with me and the leaders of New Community in 2022! Our growth journey for this year is called Knowing Jesus: a deeper walk, a richer life. And I guarantee that if you take this journey with us, you are going to experience a very exciting year of growing into a deeper relationship with Jesus, as well as experiencing more power to live in Christian victory!

As we enter into this year we are still dealing with the bleak challenges of Covid-19. There is unprecedented discouragement and uncertainty. Suicide attempts have risen 51% among teen girls. Depression and anxiety doubled during the pandemic. And gun violence has increased at an all-time high.

However, we believe - as God’s people - that even during calamity, God has purpose for us to overcome difficulties and shine for Jesus. God will not only heal us and keep us, but He will use us to bring healing to others. He can even use us to be a bridge, helping others come out of the darkness of this world into the wonderful light of Christ.

Knowing Jesus: a deeper walk, a richer life is a year-long effort designed to bring life change to you and those you love. You will grow in understanding of what you believe and why you believe it. You’ll experience deeper intimacy with God and build strong character and convictions.

Despite the adversity of this pandemic, I know that you want more out of life this year. So do I, and with God’s help we can get there!

Here are some first steps that you can begin taking to join us in this year’s journey:

  • Participate in our 21 day fast (January 6 – 26)
  • Join us in-person for our Prayer & Praise service on Wednesday, January 26th at 7pm
  • Pick up your Journey Passport on January 30th

I am especially excited for you to pick up a copy of the Journey Passport on Sunday, January 30th. The Journey Passport will provide you with a step-by-step plan to Knowing Jesus throughout 2022. You can pick up your Journey Passport in-person or we will mail it to you. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. I am asking you to pray and join us in this year-long pilgrimage to a deeper faith and a firmer foundation in Christ.

In Christ,

Kevin E. James
