How to Find Rest and Peace in Chaotic Times

There’s no denying that we’re living in chaotic times. Each day brings news that can stir up a range of emotions—fear, uncertainty, anxiety. In the midst of it all, rest and peace can feel out of reach. But Scripture reminds us that rest and peace are not only possible, they're promised.

The first step to experiencing these promised attributes is grounding yourself in God’s Word. Whether you jot down verses in your notes app or write them out by hand, we encourage you to keep a list of the promises God makes to His people—especially for times like these.

To help you begin, we’ve compiled a few verses to add to your spiritual toolkit. Reflect on them, recite them in prayer, or turn to them whenever you feel overwhelmed. Better yet, choose one to memorize so you’re ready to fight back against whatever emotions threaten your rest and peace.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

2 Timothy 4:18

The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.

Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:31-33

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing? For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Number 23:19

God is not a man, that He would lie, Nor a son of man, that He would change His mind;

Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

As you can see, the Bible is full of promises we can rely on in uncertain times. We encourage you to dive deeper into God’s Word and continue building your spiritual toolkit. If you’re not sure where to begin, the book of Psalms is a great starting point. Chapters like Psalm 91 offer powerful reminders of God’s provision, sovereignty, and protection.
