BECOMING LIKE JESUS

MAY THROUGH AUGUST

2 corithians 3:18

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.  For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Congratulations on making it through the first leg of your journey to Knowing Jesus!  We pray you are growing closer to the Lord and gaining a deeper understanding of your faith.  This part of the journey will focus on your personal transformation.

  • At Summer Quest we are “doing life together,” through programs designed to take you on a spiritual journey where you will discover truth for yourself, refresh your relationship with God and explore how to handle real life circumstances. We’re creating an environment where children, teens, millennials and adults can grow together and get connected with others in the body of Christ.

  • As we take the journey to knowing Jesus, we want you to take the time to get to know the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit.  Through this life-changing work, our goal is that you will begin to walk in the victory found only in Jesus Christ.

  • TAKE THE YOU BETTA ASK SOMEBODY CHALLENGE

Following Jesus is not only hard, but it can be confusing. Each day your faith is tested and you have to make the decision to surrender and trust God or give into your feelings. We have created a unique challenge that we know will equip you for the journey. We invite you to take the You Betta Ask Somebody Challenge designed to teach you more in-depth about the Fruit of the Spirit and help you become the person God has created you to be. To participate in the challenge, there are 3 simple steps you need to take:

    1. Read the brief definitions of each Fruit of the Spirit below

    2. Ask 3 people who love you which Fruit of the Spirit they think you should focus on this year

    3. Complete the Fruit of the Spirit form to receive a digital specialized digital packet

  • As you seek to know more about Jesus and grow into the person He has called you to be, there are seven spiritual disciplines, which we also call habits, that you can practice regularly to help on your journey to living victoriously in Christ.

  • LEAD WELL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

As you grow in your relationship with Christ, there is certain fruit that your life begins to produce. Just like a tree produces specific fruit when it blossoms, your life will produce specific fruit as you develop and grow in your relationship with Christ.

  • love

1 Corinthians 13 defines love as patient, kind, not self-seeking and able to bear all things. Love is not based only on feeling, but the ability to show it to others even when they don't deserve it.

  • joy

True joy is dependent on who Jesus is rather than being dependent on our circumstances. It is the overflow of the life of God within us.

  • peace

Biblical peace is more than just the absence of conflict or state of rest. True peace is when we operate from a place of completeness or wholeness without any deficiency or lack.

  • patience

The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset

The virtue of patience is presented as endurance. It is a quality of self-restraint or of not giving into anger, even in the face of adversity.

  • kindness

The supernatural power posture of our hearts towards people even when they don’t deserve it.

  • goodness

The quality of being morally good or virtuous.

    Goodness is godliness.

Goodness can often be seen in our actions, but our hearts must be pure.

  • faithfulness

Faithfulness is a character trait that combines dependability and trust based on our confidence in God and His eternal faithfulness.

  • gentleness

The quality of gentleness is the opposite of harnessing others. Gentle is the quality or state of being tender, mild and calm. Gentleness expresses power with reserve and gentleness; gentle strength

  • self-control

The ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations. A battle between a divided self.

When we define self-control from a spiritual perspective, we can define it as saying no to sinful desires even if it hurts.
