The Family Pastor will lead and organize an effective ministry to parents, youth and children. The Family Pastor will oversee the development and implementation of fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism for the Family Ministry. Actively engaging in connecting with parents, youth, and children to build a healthy community in which these groups can grow in Christ, share their faith and be partners in the ministry.


Family Pastor Qualifications & Expectations:


  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree, Christian Education preferred, or higher in ministry with five years of experience in Family Ministry (working closely with families, youth, and children). 
  • Supervisory experience in managing and providing leadership to staff with excellence. 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate gifts and calling to family ministry and have a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level. 
  • A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with youth, parents, staff, and volunteers 
  • Must possess strong communication skills and a desire to be active in community outreach. Along with strong relational and team-building skills. 
  • This position requires excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to research the community, utilizing demographics, technology, and social media to reach the un-churched youth of our community 
  • Able to work as a team player, cooperating with the staff.
  • Should be able to act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas concerning family ministry, strong prevention, teaching, and motivating skills
  • Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted prayer life
  • Demonstrate faithfulness and commitment to the vision and mission of NCBF 
  • Must have a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Model a Christ-like lifestyle and a passion to reach the lost for Jesus Christ

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must have a submitted, servant and supportive attitude in your overall approach to ministry and your job (Ephesians 6:5-7; Colossians 3:23, 24)
  • Must be a born again believer and be willing to have an active family membership in good standing at New Community Bible Fellowship
  • Able to manage ministry responsibilities from a strong biblical foundation and conviction; Administrative abilities are key; Able to establish and maintain appropriate standards for the accomplishment of ministry in a way that honors both God and people
  • Professional and mature interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing
  • Timeliness is a very important value at New Community; Must arrive to work and meetings on time! Must meet request for information or action in a timely, tactful, and courteous manner
  • Effective communication is a very important value at New Community; Must provide clear, regular and thorough communications to all with whom you work
  • Must be a sound example in your marriage of Christian maturity and living out biblical principles of marriage
  • Must be a team player, promoting unity for the overall direction of the team and the Ministry
  • .Ability to be extremely flexible in an environment that is subject to many spur of the moment changes
  • Initiative, perseverance, follow-through and “whatever it takes” attitudes are very important
  • Must have a strong commitment to handling conflict according to the precepts of Scripture
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Breach of confidentiality (whether personal or church/ ministry related) is grounds for immediate dismissal
  • Must exhibit personal discretion concerning information shared or observed in the normal flow of church interactions, whether leaders, staff or members
  • As with all assignments at New Community, the Family Pastor serves in the best interest of New Community Bible Fellowship. This person must have an open, submitted and understanding spirit, should the Senior Pastor or eldership determine a need for change or reassignment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for the following ministries at New Community Bible Fellowship, including the selection of curriculum and recruitment of volunteers: Parenting Ministry, Youth Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Nursery Ministry
  • Provide care and support for children & students and their families through encouragement, training, mentoring, providing of resources, and pastoral counseling, etc.
  • Ability to provide management and leadership to the Youth Pastor and Children’s Coordinator
  • Provide direction and guidance to the Youth Pastor and to the Children’s Ministry Coordinator to promote growth, development, curriculum selection, scheduling, and discipleship
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with Sr. Pastor and other leadership as needed. Goals will be set for each ministry (Children and Students), both spiritual and numeric to meet strategic objectives
  • Support and champion the overall mission and vision of New Community Bible
  • Fellowship amongst the congregation and in the community at large. Seek to implement ideas/programs that will continue to reach out to unchurched families’ in our community
  • Encourage intergenerational gatherings to help the young and all generations to recognize how God is working in the whole family of God
  • Engage parents to be active in the development and discipleship of their children. In addition, develop channels of resources that allow the parents to lead in their home in such a way that corporate unity is maintained
  • Identifying and developing youth and children in their walk with the Lord to become leaders within their current groups and aid them in aspiring to be future leaders within the church
  • Recruiting parents to be actively involved in children and youth ministries.
  • Grow ministry strategies that focus on the unique needs of parents as their children move through each stage of development
  • Possess the ability to bring fresh thinking to the areas of children, students, and family ministry
  • Collaborate with Christian Education Pastor to facilitate small groups that pertain to parenting ministry and youth ministry
